The keyword "Industry 4.0" summarizes the increasing digitalization and networking of the entire value creation chain in one term: Components report to their machine tools that they are ready for the next processing step, and production systems order spare parts independently before a failure occurs. The changes that will accompany this in many companies will pose new challenges for quality management and quality assurance and require new approaches to solutions.
In the twentieth edition of the "Business Forum Quality" on September 12 and 13, 2016, the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT and the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering WZL of RWTH Aachen University will present current developments on the topic of "Smart Quality - Quality Management in the Age of Industry 4.0" for discussion. Top-class speakers from industry and research will report on important trends and best practices in two expert forums.
The "Smart Products" expert forum is dedicated to the challenges and tasks of quality management in the development, manufacture and field phase of intelligent products. In addition to practical solutions from various branches of mechanical engineering, the opportunities and risks of intelligent products will be discussed. The "Smart Production" expert forum will address the question of what quality management and quality assurance must achieve in an increasingly digitized and networked production environment. In various contributions, the speakers share their ideas about the tasks and workplace design of the "digitally supported employee".
As always, the focus of the Business Forum Quality is on personal exchange and discussion between speakers, participants and scientists. The event illuminates the entire industrial value chain and addresses specialists and executives from development, production, purchasing, controlling, strategy development and quality management.
Further information on participation can be found on the website of the Business Forum Quality.
