On May 10, 2017, Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirt.Ing. Daniel Trauth was awarded the Manfred Hirschvogel Prize 2017. The Manfred Hirschvogel Prize is awarded annually at the nine leading technical universities in Germany for the best doctorate in the field of mechanical engineering.

Dr. Traut received the award for his doctorate with the title "Tribology of machine hammer peenend tool surfaces for deep drawing". With his doctoral thesis, Dr. Traut succeeded in designing tailor-made tribological systems by machine hammering, which minimise friction and wear in relation to the local load collectives during deep drawing.

The Manfred Hirschvogel Prize was established in 2007 by the Frank Hirschvogel Foundation to honor the life's work of Dr. Manfred Hirschvogel. Doctor Manfred Hirschvogel was the founder of the Hirschvogel Foundation and managing family shareholder of the Hirschvogel Automotive Group.

The Hirschvogel Automotive Group is one of the world's largest automotive suppliers in the field of forming and machining.
