Research Project on Digitized Error Management in Medium-Sized Businesses
Interested small and medium-sized enterprises (KMU) can still register as project participants for the publicly funded research project "LeaF - Learning Failure Management", which is being implemented promptly at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University. The project deals with the development of approaches for small and medium-sized businesses for the digitization and networking of error management. Data quality and use is to be improved by defining error sensors in line with requirements and by using a uniform company-wide error classification and data mining methods.
The publicly funded research project "LeaF - Learning Failure Management" develops approaches for small and medium-sized enterprises (KMU) to digitise and network error management.
The goals and potential benefits of the LeaF research project are:
- maximization of error data quality
- recognition of repetitive errors
- targeted learning for sustainable avoidance of repetitive errors
- fast and effective error analysis
Specifically, the data structure of error recording is improved and the data basis homogenized. This is the only way to digitally process and evaluate the data in error management. Thus, the project can make a valuable contribution to secure the competitiveness of small and medium-sized businesses.
The project addresses sensor problems, i.e. it is necessary, for example, to find out how many sensors are necessary for error management and where they need to be installed in the company. In addition, a uniform data structure is defined, on the basis of which analyses with different data mining approaches can be carried out. The data mining methods are pre-evaluated in the project, so that the implementation effort for KMU is low. The results of the project will be implemented in a software tool to ensure direct use for KMU.
The initiator of the publicly funded research project is the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University.
Interested companies have the opportunity to become part of the project, actively participate in the creation of content and benefit first-hand from the results. By participating in the project-accompanying committee, the research process can be steered and the knowledge gained can be transferred to the economy.
