In May 2018, the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University started a broad-based company comparison together with the Lean Enterprise Institute: aim of the project “Consortium Benchmarking – Production Systems 4.0 – Increasing agility through process innovations” is to identify successful and field-tested approaches of the development of production systems together with an industrial consortium.

In the context of Consortium Benchmarking, the partners have the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience in an open dialogue and to take practical suggestions for their own area of responsibility with them - both in discussions with each other and with the selected Successful-Practice-Companies. The Successful-Practices are determined based on a questionnaire that is actively shaped of the consor-tium partners at the beginning of the project. Interested companies are welcome to join the industrial consortium.

The Consortium Benchmarking starts in May 2018 and is completed by company visits by the consortium partners. Therefore, the project participants can use the opportunity to get in contact with particularly successful concepts during the one-day company visits. The "Successful Practice companies" will be presented and honoured at the final conference in spring 2019.
