Abstract
In many machine tools, the potential of numerical compensation is not fully exploited. The reasons for this are primarily economic: The metrological effort and thus the costs for calibration are simply too high. The approach of self-calibration offers enormous potential for cost reductions, especially for five-axis machining centers with rotary/swivel tables. In this work, various approaches to this are investigated and evaluated.
