Abstract

Today's business environment is characterized by a challenging technology and market situation. In order to survive in this environment against the competition on the market, the ability to identify promising ideas and to develop them into innovations is of particular importance. In practice, however, only a fraction of the ideas pursued by companies reaches market maturity. The cause in many cases is the inability of companies to recognize discrepancies or contradictions within the pursued innovation ideas at an early stage. The aim of this dissertation is therefore to support companies in the initial identification of inconsistent or contradictory innovation ideas in order to enable an adaptation or alternative allocation of resources. For this purpose, a methodology for determining the logic of innovation ideas for technical systems is being developed. The methodology consists of four models. The definition of all information that is relevant for logic determination forms the starting point of the methodology. Suitable innovation tools for the generation of the required information are identified within the second model. The assessment of the gathered information requires appropriate evaluation mechanisms. Therefore, the third model serves the purpose of deriving criteria and methods for determining the logic of innovation ideas for technical systems. The limited availability of resources within the idea process requires the time-efficient applicability of the methodology. Against this background, an intuitive and standardized procedure for determining the logic of innovation ideas for technical systems is developed within the fourth model.
