Increasingly complex and digitally networked products place new demands on the product development process. Therefore, a change must take place: away from document-based product development and towards an integrated, agile product development process. Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is a promising approach to enable efficient digital networking and agile product development.
Already in the product development process, MBSE can be used to build an interdisciplinary system model as an information platform. The early integration of previously heterogeneous development models from the various domains promises consistency and better collaboration between the areas. Especially through the integration of the physical parameter level, the system model holds great potential for the development and optimization of technical products. End-to-end model-based product development creates transparency about the development process and identifies conflicting goals. We see the intentional and efficient response as a necessary key competence for maintaining a company's competitiveness.
Modeling requirements down to the parameter level and linking them functionally to the product structure is, in our view, necessary to manage goal-oriented agile product development.
