Basics of Control and Drive Technology

Feed drives exert a significant influence on the performance and productivity of production and machine tools through their dynamics, reliability and accuracy. They therefore represent a key factor for economical manufacturing and production operations. The seminar provides expertise in the design, parameterization, commissioning and optimization of drive systems in production systems. The focus is on the required components as well as the control technology. After an introduction to the technology and operation of motors, inverters and controllers, the fundamentals of control engineering are covered with close reference to practical applications. Subsequently, control loops and their suitable parameterization are addressed. The seminar then addresses measures for system optimization through the use of various filters and their effect on drive behavior. Trace functionalities of the NC control system and closed-loop tests are used to check the results obtained and are applied with the participants on real drive systems. The seminar is rounded off with the current state of research in the field of drive technology. In various practical parts, the previously theoretically imparted knowledge will be deepened and applied step by step on control simulators and machines.
