Machine tool manufacturers are confronted with the demand to increase productivity of machine tools while improving machining quality. In many applications, the productivity of modern machine tools is limited by static and dynamic weaknesses in the machine design. In the seminar, fundamental relationships for the analysis and optimization of the geometric, kinematic, static, dynamic and thermal behavior of machine tools are taught. In addition, there will be a practical introduction to industry-oriented measurement methods as well as sensor and actuator technology for the evaluation of machine properties, and the evaluation and presentation of measurement results will be addressed. An understanding of the interrelationships is imparted, on the basis of which a goal-oriented optimization of new assemblies and machines can take place. Measures to improve already realized machine designs will also be discussed in detail.
