The research project ProMiDigit pursues the objective to combine no-code digitization with process mining in an agile no-code platform in order to enable IT laypeople to digitize processes and perform data-driven process optimization. This allows analog processes to be transformed into executable applications and optimized without a single line of source code. The special characteristics of the no-code platform the ability to modify applications in productive operation at any time without the risk of compromising data or processes. Here, process mining serves as a method to analyze digitized processes based on digital traces and to iteratively optimize them in consideration of predefined target values. In addition, data mining is employed to analyze user behavior in system interaction to gain further insights into optimization potentials. Thus, the research results empower enterprises to resolve the bottleneck of IT specialists and to accelerate the digitalization of their business processes.

The joint research project started in July 2020 with four companies and institutes, including the division Quality Intelligence of the Chair of Production Metrology and Quality Management. Researchers of WZL focus on the synthesis of process mining and data mining for process optimization. Within the scope of the prototypical implementation of the agile no-code platform and the testing in pilot phase, questions regarding a sustainable and continuous process improvement in productive operation are also investigated.

The research project ProMiDigit is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in the program "KMU-innovativ: Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)" and is supervised by DLR Project Management Agency.
