Targeted Application of Artificial Intelligence in Value Creation
Nowadays, the ability of German manufacturing companies to compete depends more than ever on their ability to effectively meet complex challenges such as volatile markets. Within the industrial context in particular, there is considerable potential through constantly growing data availability and improved analysis options: Artificial Intelligence (AI) enables the processing of large amounts of data and can help to derive fore-casts and facilitate decision-making. In order to be able to access these potentials, companies must be enabled to use Artificial Intelligence in a targeted manner in the value creation process.
What organizational requirements do companies have to meet to ensure the successful implementation of AI? How can the existing digital infrastructure be changed and used for AI applications? How can companies identify and evaluate areas of deployment of AI applications? Which success factors have to be considered during the implementation and the long-term management and development of AI applications?
This is where the joint Consortial-Benchmarking “AI in Operations” of FIR at RWTH Aachen University and the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) at RWTH Aachen University comes in: It offers manufacturing companies the possibility to get answers to these and other central questions around the use of AI in production and production-related areas. Successful strategies, structures and application examples are visited at successful practice companies on site and can then be transferred to own areas of responsibility.
Consortial partners wanted!
Manufacturing companies that are interested in the new consortium benchmarking “AI in Operations” are cordially invited to become part of the project and to actively participate in the study! In an exchange with other experts, own questions can be discussed and new approaches for the companies will be developed. In addition, participating companies gain access to the WZL's community of experts in the fields of production engi-neering and Artificial Intelligence.
