Maritime systems, such as ships and submarines, far exceed the dimensions of conventional products. The complexity of these large scale products poses great challenges to the shipyard from parts manufacturing to assembly to equipment. In addition to high product complexity, low quantities and inadequate work plan quality require complex production planning and control. In most cases, the products are only manufactured in quantities of one, which poses further challenges for production planning and control due to a lack of experience.
The aim of the research project is to develop a methodology for proactive production control based on real-time data that is updated on a daily basis, which enables trouble-free operation and minimum downtimes. The WZL's goal is to develop an evaluation model that contributes to the achievement of the overall goal. The evaluation model should check the feasibility of alternative assembly and manufacturing process sequences and determine the optimum sequence in the event of malfunctions. In addition, this should be based on the most generic key figures possible in order to ensure or prepare its universal applicability in other companies or industries. The evaluation model is based on a data model which depicts the assembly and manufacturing processes of shipbuilding and their dependencies.
