Identification of tried and tested success factors for the implementation of a databased market analysis

How does the customer use current products and what are the requirements for the next product generations? Which competitive products or technological disruptions endanger the company's activities? With which suppliers and partners can technological advances be realized in the long term?

More than ever, these are central questions in the innovation and product management of manufacturing companies. An up-to-date and holistic understanding of all areas of the market is of decisive importance for the success of strategic decisions. Against this background, the development of "Market Intelligence" through growing data availability and novel analysis options holds promising potential - but also challenges. In practice, these particularly consist of identifying suitable sources of information, analyzing heterogeneous data using selected methods and clearly defined roles, and returning findings to decision-making processes in a structured manner.

In order to identify innovative strategies, concepts and application examples of the successful implementation of a "Market Intelligence", the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of the RWTH Aachen together with the Complexity Management Academy conducts an international consortium benchmarking study. The kick-off date for the study is February 18, 2020.

Consortium partner wanted for kick-off!

As consortium partners, interested companies can determine the focal points of the benchmarking and define relevant questions to be dealt with in the study.

The questions will form a questionnaire, which will illuminate the activities of companies from various industries in the field of "Market Intelligence". The results are used to identify companies that have already successfully implemented market intelligence in business processes and strategic decisions. The consortium will visit these companies to get to know the promising approaches and to discuss them with the experts on site. Finally, the essential factors for the successful implementation of a "Market Intelligence", which you can use for yourself and your company, are determined from this.
