Agile Product Development – Processes and Structures

 

The Internet of Production - IoP - is based on the vision to enable a new level of cross-domain collaboration by providing semantically adequate and contextual data from production, development and usage in real time and adapted granularity. The central scientific approach is to provide digital shadows as application-specific aggregated and multi-perspective data sets. In the Cluster of Excellence, a conceptual reference infrastructure will be designed and implemented to enable the generation and use of digital shadows.

The Cluster Research Domain C "Agile Product Development" concentrates on the determination of structures, processes and methods as well as on enablers for agile product and process development for cyberphysical products. In this context, the Internet enables production to engage stakeholders for effective development and eliminates latencies to drastically shorten development times.

Within the workstream C.I, the research area of the Chair of Machine Tools focuses on the scientific and methodological investigation of industrial implementations for a fast process ramp-up in the machining of components. For this purpose, a demonstrator will be built, which enables a fast design of the manufacturing process in prototype construction on the basis of historical manufacturing data access and links this information with cross-domain knowledge models, whereby previously unknown prototypes can be produced faster.
