The Internet of Production (IoP) is based on the vision to enable a new level of cross-domain collaboration by providing semantically adequate and contextual data from production, development and usage in real time and adapted granularity. The central scientific approach is to provide digital shadows as application-specific aggregated and multi-perspective data sets. In the Cluster of Excellence, a conceptual reference infrastructure will be designed and implemented to enable the generation and use of digital shadows.
The aim of this subproject within the workstream "Work Stream B3.I: Long-term Production Management" is to improve supplier management on the basis of end customer data. Data such as social media contributions, complaints, usage data up to sales figures and conventional market research offer deep insights into the needs and wishes of customers as well as into concrete product requirements. In a modern production environment such as the automotive industry, manufacturers produce fewer and fewer components themselves, but receive entire systems from suppliers. Since the manufacturer acts as a producer for the end consumer, the customer data is addressed to him and is easier for him to collect. The manufacturer can use the aggregated information in a supplier portal.
Within the framework of the project, sources for customer data and their respective characteristics are first identified. This creates a methodology for transforming the data into information in order to systematically present it to the suppliers.
