Metrological Laboratory

In the metrological laboratory at WZL, students get to know exciting applications of their teaching contents and their application in relation to metrology. With the active participation of the students, the WZL determines and interprets, for example, the suitability of test processes on the basis of real components. In addition, various techniques and procedures for non-destructive material testing using ultrasound are clearly demonstrated with hand-held measuring instruments as well as robot-based. Macroscopic defects in the material - pores, cracks, inclusions -, internal structures - wall thicknesses, layer thicknesses - as well as geometric dimensions of components can be visualized and measured. The practical experience should make it easier for the students to access their learning material and arouse enthusiasm for the various fields of application.
