Alliance of several industrial companies from cooling lubricant technology
Oils are currently frequently used as cooling lubricants for grinding and gear hobbing. The individual production machines are supplied with cooling lubricant from central systems, which are often located in basement rooms.
These general conditions now mean that in the event of a natural disaster, such as the 2021 flood in the Ahr Valley, its effects on the environment and on people will be amplified. In order to minimize this amplifying factor of the general conditions, structural measures can be implemented at the production site on the one hand. These are cost-intensive and therefore put the profitability of the entire site at risk. On the other hand, the machining oil used can be substituted by an innovative water-miscible cooling lubricant that is compatible with the environment and safe for humans.
The aim of this project is therefore to investigate the performance of environmentally and human-compatible cooling lubricants in demanding processes.
