The properties of water-miscible cooling lubricants, such as emulsions, depend on the one hand on the base oil used and the performance additives contained in the cooling lubricant concentrate. On the other hand, the water quality and temperature as well as the ambient temperature during the preparation of the cooling lubricant influence the subsequent properties during application. In general, the cooling lubricants are prepared at a water temperature of 18 degrees Celsius and also used at this ambient temperature. However, this requires an acclimated production environment.
The aim of the research project is to identify the influence of low preparation temperatures and ambient temperatures on the properties of water-miscible cooling lubricants and to derive corresponding recommendations for industrial practice.
