RoboCup Logistics League - German Open 2023 in Aachen
From April 24 to 30, the German Open 2023 of the RoboCup Logistics League (RCLL) took place in Aachen. Just like in 2022, the leagues of the German Open 2023 were decentralized. This year we were happy to host the competition at the WZL - just like last year.
In the RoboCup Logistics League, competing teams developed state-of-the-art autonomous logistics robots that they had to prove in various disciplines. Key research tasks included planning and scheduling, navigation, and troubleshooting. In general, the goal of RCLL is to advance flexible solutions of material and information flow within industrial production using coordinated teams of autonomous mobile robots.
This year, five teams from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Japan and Mexico competed against each other. Among them was the Aachen-based team Carologistics. The team has been successfully participating in the Robo Logistics League since 2012 and most recently secured the world championship title for the sixth time. Carologistics is an interdisciplinary team of students and employees from RWTH Aachen University and Aachen University of Applied Sciences from the fields of computer science, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering.
