Manufacturing successfully in fast moving markets

After strong growth in recent years, global production networks are now facing new challenges. Unpredictable events like the corona pandemic, arising trade conflicts or a volatile inflow of orders have far-reaching effects on production networks and supply chains. These uncertainties require a synthesis of short-term actions with consistent long-term strategies. The challenge is to react actively to new changes and to achieve the necessary agility and organizational structure in the affected areas. In order to meet these challenges, we will conduct a consortium benchmarking with the goal of identifying and understanding successful and field-tested approaches to advancing global production networks and to benefit from these examples.

Consortium benchmarking will start in September 2020. The questions developed with the consortium partners will be transformed into a questionnaire that will explore the activities of companies, which are dealing with the challenges of fast-moving markets. From the results, successful-practice companies are identified which are characterized by particularly innovative and promising approaches in the design of global production networks.
