In the Working Group Tool Interfaces, existing since 2008, the long-standing research and development activities of WZL in the area of tool interfaces are continued and transferred into practice. In cooperation with 15 machines, tool, and clamping technology manufacturers, the independent and objective investigation and evaluation of the properties of various tool interfaces for turning and milling machining are in the foreground. Based on investigations of the static torsion and bending properties, the influence of rotation on these properties as well as the behavior in the cutting process are also investigated. The parallel development of simulation methods serves to predict the interface behavior to support the development process.
