Funding bodies

The research work carried out in the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) at RWTH Aachen University is largely funded by public funds. Among the largest sponsors are the German Research Foundation DFG, the Association of Industrial Research Associations "Otto von Guericke" AiF, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research BMBF and the European Union. The type of funding and the composition of possible research consortia vary greatly and depend on the funding conditions of the various funding bodies. This concerns, for example, the character of the research work, basic or application-oriented, the number of partners, a possible direct involvement of industrial partners, and the duration of the individual projects.
