Every measurement is subject to uncertainty. Due to this measurement uncertainty, serious errors can occur when checking product conformity. In order to be able to make a reliable decision on product conformity, the measurement uncertainty must be known and lie below a tolerance-dependent limit value. A challenge is the effort-reduced determination of the measurement uncertainty for complex measurement processes. For these processes, there is a demonstrable need in industry and research for a procedure with which the measurement uncertainty can be determined with reduced effort. The aim of the research project is to develop a method for transferring known uncertainties of existing measurement processes to similar measurement processes in order to reduce the effort required for determining the measurement uncertainty. This makes it possible to prove the suitability of measurement processes more economically in application. The method is based on the determination of measurement uncertainty according to GUM and extends this by the determination of measurement uncertainties by transferring them to similar measurement processes.
