Research Group
Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM)

The Research Group Electrical Discharge Machining attends in its research and development activities to the two manufacturing processes sinking EDM (SEDM) and wire EDM (WEDM).

The research addresses the guideline, to generate systematic and comprehensive process knowledge to analyze and interpret phenomena in its origin. Thus, fundamental research work is conducted in terms of technology development for EDM machining to increase the cutting and material removal rate as well as advancing of contour accuracy and surface integrity aspects. The research results are applied in the mold and tool making, precision engineering, turbo machinery and medical sector. A modern machine park standing in the own laboratory is used for these activities.
