Soft Machining

 

With soft machining processes, the tooth gap is inserted into the cylindrical workpiece. The selection of suitable processes is primarily based on the economic efficiency of the processes for a given production task and the required component quality. The processes include gear hobbing, form milling, gear shaping and gear skiving.
The WZL Gear Department has been dealing with the different technologies of gear soft machining for many years. Within the framework of numerous research projects and bilateral projects, suitable technology parameters were determined for processing with different tool concepts and different process control.
In the working group "SPARTApro", in addition to the production simulation SPARTApro, ongoing projects on the thematic block pre-gearing from the WZL Gear Research Circle and the German Research Foundation (DFG) will be discussed.
