Acoustics

 

An essential quality criterion of transmissions is the resulting noise behavior in the application. The design of the transmission regarding noise behavior begins as early as the conception phase of the transmission architecture. The subsequent design of the microgeometry must compensate for the operational deformations of the housing and the shaft bearing system as well as for the manufacturing and assembly tolerances.
In the gear department of the WZL, the noise behavior is examined from the design, production and assembly to the application on the test rig or in the actual application. This ensures that production related product properties can already be taken into account in the design, which results in a robust gear unit design. The necessary experience, software programs and test rig concepts are the result of close industrial contact and many years of research work in the field of transmission acoustics.
