2nd Siegen Production Forum

Thursday, March 18, 2021

Digitalization and demographic developments expose our society to constant structural change, which even South Westphalia cannot escape. For a region that is home to over 150 world market leaders, it is essential that the organization and technical design of the manufacturing industry is always state-of-the-art. Südwestfalen is meeting these challenges with the new format "Siegen Production Forum". Experts from research and industry will present innovative approaches for the smart production of tomorrow.

We look forward to meeting you as a company from the manufacturing industry at any location. In specialist presentations you will learn more about concrete concepts and examples with the focus on "Smart Production in South Westphalia". The event is rounded off by an accompanying trade exhibition and a stimulating keynote lecture. Room for networking is provided by the industry talk and an atmospheric get-together. About 100 participants are expected.

Topics of the lecture sessions

Smart logistics

Thanks to the expansion of internal radio data transmission, innovative possibilities for material provision in assembly lines are opening up. The Smart Logistics session, for example, deals with the question of how the potential for increasing the efficiency of picking systems can be exploited by applying real-time data analysis.

Smart Production

Digitalization and intelligent algorithms are constantly making their way into the production world, accompanied by increasing processor performance and shrinking memory density. As a result, the prerequisites for models in which man and machine share the decision-making power in the manufacturing company must be examined.

Smart Robotics

Customized products push the productivity of manual workstations with collaborative robots to their limits, because their grippers still represent special solutions. The "print your gripper" concept allows the user to produce grippers overnight using 3D printing and thus react flexibly to product variants.
Smart ergonomics, product and production development
Despite cyber-physical systems and advancing automation, the human factor will not lose its importance. Virtual product development with data glasses or increasing physical performance with exoskeletons are just a few examples of human-machine interaction that will be the focus of tomorrow's work science.

Smart Setup

Forming processes that are equipped with cyber-physical systems support the machine operator by mapping learned decision-making processes when setting up the machine. In the future it will therefore be possible to reduce machine set-up times by at least half of the time required today.

Technical Exhibition
