Starting Situation

Production deviations influence the noise and load-bearing behaviour of gear stages. Common deviations in gear technology include grinding notches, flank topography deviations from tooth to tooth, concentricity and pitch errors. The deviations occurring in the manufacturing process can be corrected via a geometric closed loop between the gear measuring machine and the gear cutting machine. Despite the geometric closed-loop in gear manufacturing, rejects still occur because the resulting production deviations are not related to the functional application behavior in the gear. The reason for this is the lack of a calculation-based assessment of the functional impairment caused by these deviations, since automated communication paths between measuring machines and calculations in the FVA Workbench are missing. The result is unnecessary rejects in the form of good parts that can be used from a functional point of view.

Research Objective

The goal of this research project is the functional evaluation of production deviations with regard to the application behavior in the FVA Workbench. For this the necessary result data of the measuring machines shall be read in and considered in the calculations. The production measurement data of gear measuring machines and contour graphs must be converted into a format suitable for the exchange of measurement data between the measuring machine and the FVA Workbench. A suitable format for this is the "Gear Data Exchange" (GDE) format. In the next step, the required interfaces and calculation processes are integrated into the FVA Workbench model. The last step represents the validation and application of the method on the basis of practical examples from the research projects FVA 709 I + II and FVA 127 XI.
