Field of Research
Sensors and Data Aquisition

The basis of every process monitoring and control is a deep understanding of data generation. To this end, the Process Monitoring group is researching new sensor technologies and evaluating existing ones. This covers the entire range from acceleration and acoustic emission sensors to the measurement of process forces and power up to high-resolution thermal images. These data sources can then be used for further applications or analyzed for a better understanding of the process.

Main topics:

  • Force (Dynamometer | RCD)
  • Active power (Hall sensors | Machine internal data)
  • Dynamics (Acoustic Emission | Acceleration)
  • Cutting process (High-speed camera | Double-shutter camera)
  • Temperatures (Ratio pyrometer | Thermographic camera)
  • Development of real-time capable data acquisition and processing systems
  • Standardized communication protocols (OPC-UA)
