 |  | The American Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) appointed Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Fritz Klocke to the College of Fellows. Every year since 1986, the company with its domicile in Dearborn, Michigan, elects members from different fields of mechanical engineering into this committee. Thereby, internationally well-known personalities are decorated for their enduring engagement.
This year, Prof. Klocke has been the only European among six scientists worldwide who have been decorated. Prof. Klocke heads the Chair of Manufacturing Technology at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology. |

 | | The WZL and the production engineering institutes of the RWTH Aachen University appreciate the decision to fund the Cluster of Excellence "Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries". With this extensive funding the German government acknowledges and emphasizes the importance of local production for national economics and employment. It furthermore hands over the responsibility to Aachen University's researchers for finding solutions meeting today's challenges of developing sustainable and globally competitive production technologies for high-wage countries.
