Globalisation
EU-extension as well as the liberalisation of China are reshaping the global competition. For internationally operating companies, various new options have emerged: New growth markets demand for development, benefits from highly skilled labour at low labour costs offer great potential. Dramatic changes, such as rapid technology development even in low cost markets and the formation of new competition abroad, require to identify, develop and utilise any competitive factor available.

Topics

The complexity associated with globalisation requires identification and evaluation of all relevant variables and factors. Nowadays, when transferring orders, materials, products and information among different production sites - besides addressing operational problems - companies increasingly have to face the challenge of managing vast supplier networks, mutual dependencies and complex logistics. Last but not least, the market conditions play a major role when defining the potentials and limits of a global strategy.

The WZL is concerned with questions regarding the
  • determination of the optimal real net output ratio
  • allocation/distribution of the added value in a global production network (“Global Footprint”)
  • relocation and choice of location for production sites (“Off-shoring”)

Co-operation

The WZL is dedicated to bridging the gap between innovative research and industrial consulting. Various activities are provided in co-operation with our partners from industry:

  • Surveys and benchmarkings
  • international consortial research projects
  • industrial consulting
  • seminars and trainings for industrial customers

Among our cooperation partners there are not only international automotive companies and well-known consulting firms, but also medium-sized corporations and respectable universities from (-all around) the world.
