Gear Manufacturing by Deforming Technology

Deforming technology offers some advantages regarding production costs and material exploitation. Still, manufacturing of gears through deforming processes could not be realised yet. Due to the complexity of component and matrix forms, the gear could not be completely designed and the matrix had a very short lifetime.
Only recently, some interrelations in the forming processes were researched which could possibly also be applied in gear manufacturing. By means of FEA simulation previous difficulties in the cold forming of helical gears can now be explained. Starting from these new results, new approaches can be researched in order to develop a technologically optimized and economically expedient possibility for manufacturing of spur gears.
