Tooth Contact Analysis and Dynamic Simulation

The tooth contact analysis (TCA) for beveloid, cylindrical and bevel gears allows a reliable prediction of their working behaviours. TCA-software enables to determine the transmission error, gear stiffness, tooth root stresses as well as the flank pressure. On the basis of the transmission error and the change in the contact stiffness a conclusion regarding the excitation behaviour can be drawn. Furthermore the effects of deviations, occurring because of the manufacturing or assembly process, can be analysed for beveloid, cylindrical and bevel gears in unloaded condition.
Furthermore a Force Coupling Element has been developed at the WZL in recent Year. This allows the simulation of the dynamic meshing behaviour of cylindrical and bevel gears in dynamic simulation systems of drivetrains. Thereby it is possible to calculate and analyse the additional dynamic forces in the gear mesh by considering deflections and real contact geometries.
